Well well well, Looks like Qool DJ Uncle Q has laced us with another treat. For those who have just recently tuned into the “Qool” mixes produced by my friend, partner, and musical guru, Qool DJ Uncle; Q has a long trek record of blessing both the local/global community with his mixes that seem to always make the perfect moment even better. If this is your first mix, I ask you to enjoy it, then once you have played that mix out and broken the CD you’ve burned it on, go back to his extensive catalog (THE MAXWELL MIX, THE BEST OF RAPHAEL SAADIQ MIX, BOOGIE BASEMENT MIX, BY ALL MEANS [BADU MIX], etc.) to name only a few, and catch up on some of the best grooves produced by one of the fastest rising icons of our social networking community, stretching from DC to Brooklyn and well beyond. If you have not had the opportunity to come to a Qool DJ Uncle Q party and catch it live and organic…..well all I can say is you are missing out, find out the next party he DJ’s. From his song selection to the brilliant yet experimental blends, to his appropriately place cuts and scratches, what more can I say about this guy. THIS KAT IS ILL…..man. Pure dopeness. This “Give Thanks” MIX is just another testament to the musical prowess that this musical guru possesses (be it a soul music mix for the holiday or a boom bap hip-hop mix to get it crack’n for a Friday nite), this mix will restore faith in the none believers of the mix tape genre, letting them know it’s not mix tapes that are wack, ITS WACK MIXTAPES THAT ARE WACK (DJ INCLUDED) The product will always speak for itself. I certainly enjoyed this mix with my family and friends this Thanksgivings holiday and I hope you did or will too. A few KUDOS from one DJ to another, (the Q original production track #12 Quartermaine - 1127 (Woofie’s Waltz and the way you cut it up before letting Sade sing WOW), and the crazy cuts on track #16 Quartermaine - Cut it up Q) a touch a brilliance and elegance. I have much more practicing to do brah. I’m a fan def, but the work speaks for itself. Can wait until the next installment.
