My friend Jati called me last year and asked me if I had heard the new song by OC (Times Up, Return of The Crooklyn Dodgers) and AG (Showbiz and AG).  I thought the question strange as I had never before discussed either artist at length with him.  He told me to take a listen… and pay close attention to the chorus.

Me: What’s the hook?

Jati: It’s a scratch collage…

Jati: Primo

Me: Word, ok?…

Jati: Sounds like your voice in the beginning

I couldn’t believe it.  DJ Premier actually used a line of mine from Kev Brown’s Say Sumthin’…

I always wanted to say something (no pun intended) that would make someone sample me.  Kinda like Slick Rick and Chuck D and Prodigy and Kane…  And I always wanted it to be scratched up DJ Premier.
