Today at the WWDC Apple unveiled its highly anticipated phone of the future - the Iphone 3G S.  Apple makes the following claims:

• In fact, everything you do on iPhone 3G S is up to 2x faster and more responsive than iPhone 3G.
• Now you can shoot video, edit it, and share it — all on your iPhone 3G S.
• The new 3-megapixel camera takes great still photos, too, thanks to built-in auto-focus and a handy new feature that lets you tap the display to focus on anything (or anyone) you want.
• With a built-in digital compass, iPhone 3G S can point the way.

…that’s it?!  All the hoopla for what?

No front camera conferencing, no flash video support…

I’m not really sure what Steve Jobs and crew were thinking with this one and why they believed it was worth the $199 16GB/ $299 price tag.  A better deal is to purchase the existing iPhone 3G for the new low price of $99, get the 3.0 Software update and jailbreak it.  At least that’s what the smart, fiscally conscious folks will do.

Final note: Apple is currently taking pre orders of the iPhone 3G S and the 3.0 Software Update will be available June 17th.
